Artist's Resume' for Chris Wilson
Education: Oil Painting Summer Workshop-Columbus College of Art and Design, July 2005 Artist's Statement: I studied art all through primary and secondary school. In college I did not take any formal art courses. I did however take a number of aesthetics courses focusing on the theory and history of art. Beginning in 1985 I returned to painting, primarily in watercolor, but oil as well. I also have an extensive background in photography, and took formal courses including darkroom techniques during my high school years. A photograph of mine currently graces the 1975 Granville high school yearbook (my senior year). In the past few years most of my work has been from the Great Lakes area and Canada specifically. I have an interest in marine landscapes and a particular focus on the large lake freighters that ply these waters. As their numbers are constantly declining due to age and other modes of transportation, I feel that it is even more important to capture these magnificent boats before many of them are gone. I gravitate towards the more industrial side of marine landscapes, but also paint lighthouses and sailboats as well.
